The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a forecast for widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across southern states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, continuing through at least October 18.

In its latest bulletin issued on October 14, the Met Office also predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over the region for the next few days.

Monsoon to withdraw further from Odisha, Maharashtra

The IMD said that conditions were favourable for further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the remaining parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra and the northeast states during the next 2-3 days.
