A team of experts, formed by the Karnataka government, has expressed serious concerns about the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Bengaluru's proposed 18.5-kilometre underground tunnel that would connect Silk Board Junction and Hebbal Junction. The panel warned that the project might be doomed due to technical, financial, and environmental complications.

According to the Karnataka Urban Development Department-appointed expert committee reviewing the Detailed Project Report, the DPR was hurriedly completed and relied on just four soil test stations for tunnel layout, which is ‘too few’ for a project of this size.
