China has imposed curbs on the American units of Hanwha Ocean Co., one of South Korea’s biggest shipbuilders, as it targets US measures against the Chinese shipping sector.
The Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday it was placing curbs on five US entities of the shipbuilding giant.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport said it was conducting a probe into the impacts from the US Trade Representative’s Section 301 investigation into China’s maritime sector, and may implement retaliatory measures in due time.
The announcements reignited concerns that the trade war could flare up again after tensions between Washington and Beijing sparked a selloff in stocks on Friday.
