PULASKI COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A man is dead after his vehicle lost control and struck a tree on Route 11 in Pulaski County on Saturday, October 11, according to Virginia State Police.

VSP troopers were dispatched to the scene of a crash on Route 11 near the intersection with Cougar Trail Rd. around 10:00 a.m.

An Oldsmobile 88 was traveling south on Route 11 when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, overcorrecting, losing control, and going off the left side of the road into a median. The vehicle then struck a tree, split in half, and caught on fire, according to police.

The driver was identified as 50-year-old Kenneth S. Goodson of Pulaski.; he was pronounced dead at the scene and wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, said troopers.
