CADILLAC, MI -- The first kiss of fall colors are illuminating the hundreds of miles of off-roading trails in Michigan’s “gateway to Up North.”

On a crisp October morning MLive travel reporter Lindsay Moore rented an ORV from Greater North Power Sports and took the scenic route through Cadillac.

Winding through the dirt trails, under a yellowing canopy of leaves, it was just the right introduction to a long-awaited fall.

The trails are moderate enough to handle for first-time ORV drivers with plenty of room to run for more experienced riders.

In May 2024, Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau worked to map and connect over 100 miles of open Wexford County and federal forest service roads together and to adjacent designated ORV trails in Lake County.

It was a big breakthrough for ORV riders
