The Three Rivers Solid Waste Authority, the regional solid waste management agency, is increasing waste disposal fees to help fund the landfill's expansion.

The TRSWA is planning to borrow $30 million to expand the capacity of the landfill. It will be increasing its disposal fees over the next five years to cover the cost.

The increases include:

• $2.30 a ton increase effective July 1, 2026

• $2 a ton increase effective July 1, 2027

• $2 a ton increase effective July 1, 2028

• $2 a ton increase effective July 1, 2029

• $2 a ton increase effective July 1, 2030

Orangeburg County Administrator Harold Young said the county has already budgeted the projected increase.

Orangeburg County is one of nine member counties of the TRSWA.
