Zoogoers at the San Diego Zoo witnessed the startling moment a gorilla ran up against a glass viewing platform and broke it. The moment was captured on video.
In the video captured by eyewitness Emily Holguin on Saturday, Oct. 11, the 10-year-old gorilla named Denny charged at the glass, cracking it. Onlookers gasped when they realized what he’d done.
By then, Denny had gone to the other side of the enclosure.
According to Holguin, who recorded the video, those standing in front of the cracked glass left the area, while some inched closer for a better look.
The San Diego Zoo said in a statement to USA TODAY on Tuesday, Oct. 14, that Denny was not hurt breaking through the three-layered tempered glass panel.
