Just when you thought college sports had exhausted its supply of bad ideas, it has gone ahead and literally doubled down.

How’s this for a preposterous parlay?

The NCAA took a major step toward the third rail last week, with the Division I Administrative Committee voting to let college athletes start betting on pro sports. As long as the change is rubber stamped by Divisions II and III, it will take effect Nov. 1. (Gambling on college sports will remain off limits.)
