PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- Superintendent Lynn Campbell says a potential ballot initiative seeking to eliminate property taxes in Ohio could have a major negative impact not only on the Orange City School District, but also on basically every other taxing authority throughout the state.

His message was part of an update on proposed legislation at the state level that Campbell provided to the Orange Board of Education Monday (Oct. 13).

Campbell said the potential ballot initiative -- a proposed amendment to the state constitution -- would abolish and prohibit all taxes on real property in Ohio.

It is currently in the signature-gathering phase, with the goal of qualifying for the November 2026 ballot, he said.
