It was a marathon weekend for one 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon finisher, who left the hospital where his baby was born and walked to the starting line of the big race.

Breck Mahoney's wife Ashleigh went into labor early Friday morning, just two days before he was set to compete in the marathon in Chicago.

Gray Mahoney was born at 4 a.m. CT Friday, weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

The pair was still at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago following the birth when Breck Mahoney was slated to run the race.

"It was a game-time decision on whether or not I would run," he said.

But early Sunday morning, Breck Mahoney, who is one of the leaders of the running club Run Too Hard, walked from the hospital room to the starting line and began his 26.2-mile journey to the finish.
