Amazon announced today the creation of 250,000 jobs in the U.S. this holiday season.

In the Birmingham region, the company is projected to hire approximately 1,700 new employees across operations, according to a recent release.

This will include full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions.

“As we prepare for the busy holiday season, we look forward to welcoming 250,000 new teammates to our operations network,” Sandy Gordon, Vice President, Global Operations Employee Experience, wrote in the release.

“Together, we will continue building a workplace where today’s opportunities can grow into tomorrow’s careers.”

Regular full-and part-time Amazon employees earn an average of $23 per hour with benefits, and seasonal employees can earn an average wage of over $19 per hour, according to the
