A recent spike in dangerous motorcycle driving on B.C. roads has caught the attention of the RCMP.
The BC Highway Patrol says July and August accounted for almost half of motorcycle deaths in the province this year.
During the first weekend of October, crews impounded 32 excessive speeders, including 13 motorcycles, on the Sea to Sky Highway alone.
So far, 27 people have died in motorcycle collisions across B.C. this year — significantly fewer than the 54 deaths in 2024.
In an update Tuesday, the BCHP says it will renew enforcement to prevent a deadly “surge” as the riding season draws to a close.
Drivers are encouraged to always ride sober, focus on the road, and slow down.
