SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The South Dakota Department of Health has confirmed four cases of influenza so far during this year’s flu season.
The SDDOH dashboard lists two cases from Minnehaha, one from Pennington and one from Fall River County. Two males and two females have tested positive for influenza.
Two of the cases are between ages 25-49 and two are older than 64 years old. There have been no hospitalizations for any of the cases so far.
The DOH lists influenza activity as “minimal” with sporadic spread as of October 8.
During the 2024-2025 flu season, 21,861 cases of influenza were reported. The highest number of cases came in the first week of February 2025 with 3,472.
As for COVID-19, there have been 6,659 cases in 2025 so far. No cases have been detected in October yet, but
