The first annual Paul Harvey Memorial Curling Tournament played out at the St. John’s Curling Club on the long weekend. The event was open to junior curlers.
Most of the rinks were from St. John’s, but there was one from Gander and one from Port aux Basques.
In the tier one male U-18 category, Team French claimed gold while Team Blanford won the female U-18 championship.
The members of Team French are 16-17 years old and headed to Alberta this week for a U-25 grand slam tournament, making them the youngest team in the field. Every other team will be between 20 and 25 years old.
The tier two U-16 mixed title went to Team Kennel. Skip McKinleigh Kennell is the granddaughter of the late Paul Harvey.
