The Northwest Indiana Forum, a private economic development agency serving Northwest Indiana, is marking the milestone of spending 70% of the original READI grants it was awarded by the state, saying the funding is being leveraged to generate more than $2 billion in total investment.
The Portage-based economic development agency, which works on economic development projects across seven counties in Northwest Indiana, said it has helped secure $115 million in grant funding from the state's Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative, a $1.25 billion program awarding grants for shovel-ready projects.
The state awarded Northwest Indiana $50 million from READI 1.0, $45 million from READI 2.0, and the Lilly Endowment has awarded $20 million in additional funding. The Forum said
