An engineering firm with extensive experience in the steel industry has opened a new office in Merrillville.

JNE Group is now leasing 2,000 square feet of office space in 8585 Broadway, the former Gainer Bank and Chase Bank tower in Merrillville.

It specializes in design, engineering and construction. It has done many projects for steelmakers, working on blast furnaces, basic oxygen furnaces, electric arc furnaces, hot strip mills, tube mills, galvanizing lines, annealing lines, temper mills, cooling towers, vacuum degassers and other steel mill operations.

Antony Miocic of Crown Point-based Latitude Commercial and Brian Edgerton of NAI Hiffman brokered the transaction to bring JNE Group into the 8-story office building, the tallest in Merrillville.
