This is the current facility used by the Palmer Food Bank. The building, which dates back to the 1940s, became the food bank’s home in 1991. But the building is small and tight. From the start, volunteers and staff knew immediately that they needed more space, and that's about to change with their new facility. They now have more parking, an arctic entry, and a larger reception area. In their old building, they could only serve one person at a time. "So in the wintertime it becomes very problematic as far as where they can wait because our current facility just does not have appropriate space for them to remain warm before they're served," said Jeff Powers of the Palmer Food Bank. It may not look like much, but once this place opens, it'll help increase the food bank's capacity
