MECHANICVILLE — Ichabod Crane junior Tanner LaTorre has all the tools to put up consistent low scores, but one underrated part of his game is course management.

Always trying to make the correct club selection and planning his way around every hole, LaTorre carded a 2-under-par 70 to take a three-shot cushion over Saratoga Springs’ standout Ceko Cupp in the opening round of the two-day Section 2 NYS Boys’ Qualifier Tuesday at Fairways of Halfmoon Golf Course.
