JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas — All of Southeast Texas is now under a burn ban as dry weather, low humidity, and gusty winds continue to create dangerous fire conditions across the region.

The Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department has been battling fires nonstop for two weeks, and Fire Chief James Gunter says he’s worried about what lies ahead. “If you don't hit it hard and you don't hit it fast, it's gonna get out of hand on you real quick,” Gunter said.

In Jasper County, a grass fire along Highway 63 recently scorched two acres of land and continues to be monitored for hot spots. The fire broke out just one day before officials issued the regional burn ban.
