PARKMAN TWP., Ohio - Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) are investigating a fatal crash involving a horse and buggy in Geauga County Sunday morning.
The crash happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. Sunday, October 12 on Route 422 near State Route 528 in Parkman Township when a commercial truck and a horse and buggy were both traveling eastbound on Route 422.
Troopers say the truck, driven by 31-year-old Daoud Husein of Dearborn, Michigan, struck the buggy, operated by 62-year-old Lester Byler of Burton, Ohio from behind causing him and his passenger, identified as 60-year-old Mary Byler to be thrown from the buggy.
Mary died at the scene, while Lester was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. Husein was not injured.
Troopers do not believe alcohol or drugs to be a fact
