A federal safety agency has issued a warning against the use of two different brands of bed rails.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Gold Kernal LLC, doing business as OasisSpace; and Li Ling Lan, doing business as KoolDoo, failed to meet federal safety requirements for bed rails.

The CPSC said people should not use “four models of OasisSpace adult portable bed rails because users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the rail and mattress, creating an asphyxiation hazard that poses a risk of serious injury or death.”

The CPSC said that an 81-year-old woman died in October 2023 “at her home after becoming entrapped between an OasisSpace bed rail and the mattress.”
