FALMOUTH, Massachusetts — Officials used a helicopter in a dramatic rescue of a man who reportedly went overboard Monday off the coast near Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Falmouth fire responded to reports of a man overboard around 3:30 p.m. near Juniper Point in Woods Hole, after the Steamship Authority Ferry crew spotted a person in the water, according to a social media post from the fire department.
People on a nearby ferry also spotted the man and helped rescuers keep an eye on him.
The Massachusetts Environmental Police, harbor master, and Coast Guard assisted Falmouth fire in the rescue due to low visibility and rough waters, the post said.
A helicopter crew found the man around 4:25 p.m. and deployed a rescue swimmer. The victim was then hoisted aboard the helicopter.
