EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo County Elections Department held a public demonstration of its newly acquired Electronic Voter Identification, also known as EViDs on Tuesday.

According to the Hidalgo County Elections Department, the introduction of the EViDs is a step forward for the county in improving the efficiency and security of the voter check-in process for elections across the county.

These new devices are replacing the previous electronic pollbook system, streamlining operations at polling locations, and will help ensure a smooth experience for both the voters and elections workers.

"The EViD system is more than just new equipment; it's an important investment in election integrity and voter confidence," said Hidalgo County Elections Administrator Hilda A. Salinas
