Edmonton Fire Rescue Service is reminding everyone to be safe when using fireworks.
As the city gears up for a new season of festivals, Edmontonians are being reminded that, on top of being safe, they need to ensure they are legally launching fireworks.
Legally launching fireworks means being a certified professional with an approved fireworks permit issued by EFRS. Any other use of fireworks is illegal and may result in fines of up to $10,000.
EFRS says between October and December 2024, peace officers began 127 investigations into the illegal use of fireworks within the city. These investigations led to $5,884 in charges.
“The charges included stunting on a highway, discharging fireworks without a permit, residential noise violations and offences related to causing smoke or odour. Tw
