CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Charlotte Fire Department on Tuesday night responded to a reported building fire in northwest Charlotte.
Battalion Chief Michael Gerin said around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, firefighters responded to Mount Holly Road for a reported fire at a diesel automotive repair shop.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy fire coming from the repair shop, and due to the presence of diesel fuel, they had to work quickly to avoid any hazardous conditions.
Chief Gerin said that people were reportedly inside the shop, and with help from the firefighters, they were able to evacuate them to safety.
Officials said they did an extensive search of the repair shop to ensure no one else was inside and trapped.
