BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Francis Marion University sophomore Leander Neuhaus fired rounds of four-under-par 67 and three-under 68 on Monday and occupies fourth place in the players’ standings, while the Patriots are 11th in the team standings following the opening day of the Phoenix Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament.

The 54-hole event is being played at the 6,871-yard, par-71 Alamance Country Club. The final round will be held today

Francis Marion registered a 289 score during Monday morning’s round and then bettered that score by two strokes during the afternoon round for a 36-hole total of 576. UNC Wilmington leads the team standings by three strokes over the host Elon University.
