LUBBOCK, Texas - Years after voters approved plans for a new expo center on North University Ave., Lubbock County leaders are revisiting the project with fresh insights. A recent feasibility study reveals strong demand for a mid-sized arena and highlights opportunities to boost downtown development through possible Lubbock Civic Center renovations.
"We definitely found the need and the demand in the local community for this type of space. There's interest from event planners and concert promoters and it could be a key first step in the evolution of downtown over the next 20 years," Director with Convention Sports and Leisure Tyler Othen said.
