MINOT, ND (KXNET) — A local fire department is introducing some new tech that may end up saving lives sooner than you'd think. The Minot Fire Department plans to purchase new thermal imaging cameras through a donation from the Hess Corporation.
Imaging cameras can identify heat signatures from hidden fires and outside of burning structures. These cameras are also commonly used to find missing people during search and rescue operations.
The MFD's current cameras are out of date and nearing the end of their shelf lives, whereas their new and improved replacements open up even more avenues to help firefighters out in the field.
