(KFVS) - The calm and warm pattern over the last few days will continue the rest of the week, but changes are on the way.

There will be plenty of sunshine today, Thursday and Friday.

Afternoon highs will be above average in the low 80s with lows in the 50s.

A strong cold front is moving toward the Heartland and it is expected to arrive over the weekend, ramping up rain and storm chances.

Timing and intensity remain uncertain, but models right now show rain by mid-morning on Saturday and ramp up throughout the rest of the day.

There is a slight risk for strong to severe storms later in the day.

Damaging winds are the primary concern.
