CINCINNATI (WXIX) -An update is expected Wednesday on the criminal case against the man accused of murdering a Hamilton County deputy sheriff.

We could hear the outcome of Rodney Hinton Jr.’s mental evaluation by a court-appointed doctor.

Hinton, 38, is facing a possible death sentence if convicted on charges of aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault in the May 2 slaying of Deputy Larry Henderson, 57.

In a terrible tragedy that stunned the Tri-State and made global news, Deputy Henderson was killed in the line of duty as he worked traffic control for the University of Cincinnati’s graduation ceremony.

Prosecutors are seeking the maximum penalty for Hinton. They say he purposely drove a vehicle into the veteran law enforcement officer, U.S. Marine, husband, father, grandfather
