CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cuyahoga County prosecutors have charged two children, nine and 10 years old, in connection to the brutal assault of a five-year-old girl last month.

Prosecutors say a nine-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl are facing initial charges of attempted murder, rape, felonious assault, kidnapping and strangulation.

The alleged assault took place Sept. 13 in a field near East 148th Street and St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland.

Antavia Kennibrew, the victim’s mother, previously told 19 News her daughter was beaten, assaulted and scalped.
