A Glasgow-bound flight was met by paramedics upon landing this morning after a medical emergency was declared onboard.

easyJet flight EZY416 from Southampton to Glasgow departed later than expected at 10.15am this morning, October 15. Staff declared a 7700 general emergency while in the air around 45 minutes into the journey and an expedited arrival was requested.

An easyJet spokesperson confirmed this was due to a passenger requiring "urgent medical assistance".

A 7700 alert is code for a general emergency, alerting air traffic control (ATC) that an aircraft needs priority handling. In today's case, this allowed ATC to clear the runway and have emergency services ready.
