Police have bailed a man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was detained after a young boy was left injured in a hit-and-run on Wigston Road in Walsgrave .

Officers were called to the junction of Wigston Road and Chaceley Close at around 3.15pm on Sunday (October 12). An 11-year-old boy had been struck by a Volkswagen Golf .

Medics were dispatched and found that the boy had sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to University Hospital Coventry .

Police arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving at around 2.30am on Monday (October 13). He was taken into custody for questioning and subsequently bailed.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the crash and urged people with information to come forw
