It is believed that all the notes share the same serial number, HB14692104. Officers are asking shop owners and retailers to be 'vigilant' during cash transactions, and to take the time to inspect notes carefully.

An update shared by Boston Police states some of the ways to spot a counterfeit note. This includes blurry or low quality printing, missing security features like the watermark, hologram or raised print, an odd texture of thickness or serial numbers that appear duplicated or mismatched.
