A mother narrowly escaped death from rabies after being bitten by a stray cat whilst holidaying in Turkey, crediting her life-saving discovery to her dogs who detected the lethal disease.

Chloe Kelly, 44, was bitten on the heel during a meal at the five-star La Blanche Resort in Bodrum, on the final day of her week-long getaway.

The hairdresser endured excruciating pain but managed to catch her flight back to the UK, where she believes her two pet dogs played a crucial role in saving her life.

The single mother-of-two had planned to rest and then arrange a tetanus jab with her GP upon returning home.

However, her two Staffy/boxer cross breeds, Zeus, five, and Bronson, four, persistently sniffed her foot and refused to leave her side as she attempted to nap.
