The government has issued an update on calls to introduce new vision tests for drivers around the country.

If the proposal was adopted all drivers applying for a driving licence renewal at 70 would have to get a recent eye test and submit it with their application, reports Express.co.uk.

Opticians have called for the over-70s to get tested after a study indicated that a startling proportion had found six in 10 of its members have seen a patient who is driving illegally within the past month.
