GRAND CHENIER, La. (KPLC) - Jeff Davis Electric has announced that it will have a scheduled power outage on Thursday, Oct. 16, for a portion of Cameron Parish.

The outage at the Michigan-Wisconsin Substation will begin at 8 a.m. and affect residents in the following areas:

Grand Chenier

Oak Grove

E. Creole Hwy.

Mermentau River Rd.

Little Chenier Rd.

The outage is so that the substation can be connected to the power grid using the new 230 kV line, removing the need for generator power.

It is expected to last about 10 hours.
