GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WBTV) - A man was found dead in a waterway near a coastal South Carolina country club on Tuesday.

The body was found in a canal off John Green Lane in the Wedgefield Plantation neighborhood on Oct. 14.

The was called out to investigate and said that foul play was not suspected, but did not immediately say how the man died. His name was also not released.

It was unclear if the man lived in the neighborhood, which has a picturesque brick entrance with large southern live oak trees and Spanish moss lining the roadway in.

The canal where the man’s body was found is about an hour south of Myrtle Beach, on the inland side of the Waccamaw and Great Pee Dee rivers.
