ANDERSON, S.C. (WBTV) - A trucker was arrested after he allegedly led a multi-county chase in South Carolina that started in a Walmart parking lot this week.

Sister-station reported that the chase started Monday, Oct. 13 after authorities approached the tractor-trailer at the Walmart on in Anderson County.

The trucker -- 48-year-old Michael James Akers -- reportedly was asleep when authorities knocked on the truck cab, and when he woke up, he took off. Video obtained by WHNS showed the truck fleeing through the parking lot, with at least two officers in tow.

Akers allegedly led law enforcement out of Anderson County and into neighboring Oconee County before he was eventually stopped after authorities put out stop sticks in the truck’s path.
