A popular national park in Victoria’s high country has partially reopened after it was shut by police due to the ongoing search for fugitive Dezi Freeman.
Mount Buffalo National Park has been closed since Freeman allegedly shot and killed two police officers in Porepunkah, 300km northeast of Melbourne , on August 26.
Freeman — also known as Desmond Filby — fled after the shooting and has been on the run ever since.
Police believed he may have fled into the national park which is located not far from his home.
However despite extensive searches of the area no trace of the 56-year-old have been found, leading police to announce on Tuesday that parts of the park would be reopening to the public.
