BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

A man is facing charges for killing 18 people and injuring more than 30 people in Alabama in 14 months.

These include two mass shootings, the deadly shooting of a Birmingham firefighter, and a couple with their unborn child.

On July 12, Firefighters Jordan Melton and Jamal Jones were doing routine morning maintenance at Station 9, located on 27th Street North in the Norwood neighborhood.

While they were working, a man now believed to be McDaniel entered the station through an open bay door and opened fire. Both firefighters were then rushed to UAB Hospital.
