A man accused of executing gangsters Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr in an Irish bar in the Costa Del Sol is expected to be extradited to Spain within days.
Michael Riley, 44, of Huyton, Merseyside, is accused of the hit on the Lyons gang members. The pair were gunned down in Monaghan's Irish pub in Fuengirola on May 31 during the Champions League final.
Riley was arrested in Liverpool on June 14 at Spain’s request. He initially opposed extradition, claiming he would fear for his life in a Spanish prison.
However, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed to the BBC that Riley gave his consent last week to face prosecution in Spain. Standard procedure means Spanish police will travel to the UK to escort him back within 10 days.
