LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) — A company that’s been serving the Lexington area for more than half a century celebrated the opening of a new location Wednesday.
Critchfield Meats, which offers wholesale meats and catering services to the region and beyond, held a ribbon cutting for their new wholesale expansion. Several local and state leaders attended the ceremony, including Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman.
Honoring tradition, embracing growth
Critchfield Meats President Mark Critchfield said the day honored tradition while embracing a new chapter for the family business.
“We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for my mom and dad who started it in 1969,” Critchfield said. “Dad was 58 years old, was a former alcoholic. Borrowed a thousand dollars and put a meat shop in the back of a hardware store.”
