Not much Championship football has been played since the summer transfer window closed but the game’s powerbrokers are already making plans for January.

Birmingham City like to stay ahead of the game and their team of transfer specialists, headed up by director of football Craig Gardner, continue to scour the market for potential recruits.

Twelve new signings arrived during the summer window and while January won’t be anywhere near as busy – it never is – the signings made mid-season can have an enormous impact.

Kieran Dowell is the perfect example of that. The attacking midfielder became a mainstay in Blues’ team in the second half of last season and contributed five goals and five assists in 23 outings.
