Tempe officials discussed damage and plans for cleaning up after a storm with high winds ripped through the East Valley city and parts of Phoenix on Monday.

A microburst storm lasting no longer than 40 minutes in east Phoenix and Tempe caused severe damage to public and private properties throughout both cities. Everything from commercial and residential properties was affected, and operations like the Phoenix Zoo saw downed trees and significant damage.

As of Tuesday, there are still an estimated 1,000 Tempe residents without power. No severe injuries were reported.
