A boil water advisory in Waterbury has been lifted, according to the mayor's office.

The advisory was issued Sunday during ongoing repairs of a water main break on Huntingdon Avenue. The initial break happened on Sept. 23.

About 1,500 homes and businesses lost water service or had reduced pressure on Sunday, sparking the new boil water advisory.

Crews made final repairs to the water main on Monday and took water samples on Tuesday. Those samples came back negative for the presence of total coliform.
