SOUTH CAROLINA (WTOC) - Over 230 manatees have been sighted in South Carolina so far this year, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
In a social media post , the SC DNR says that this time of year, manatees begin heading south to Florida for warmer waters.
However, manatees are still expected in our area for a few more weeks.
The SC DNR wants your help in getting these manatee sightings reported.
“This is a record that couldn’t have been broken without the help of all of you!” The SC DNR writes, “We are so grateful for everyone who helps us keep an eye on our waters.”
