Emporia City Commissioners approved a request for Lyon County Commissioners to make certain findings on the annexation of land - a first step in the expansion of A1 Pump and Jet, an Emporia business.

The company, which specializes in waste management services, plans on expanding its business to 800 Road 160, creating 20 to 30 jobs. Ronald McCoy, A1 Pump and Jet co-owner, said that new buildings might go up as soon as next spring.

“It’s very important for us to be able to continue to do good things for the community where we live and our families have been a part of for a long time,” McCoy said.
