“It’s probably the hardest music we’ve ever played for a pops concert,” Emporia Symphony Orchestra Director Dr. Gary Ziek said of Tuesday’s Stars of Stage and Screen concert at the Emporia Granada Theatre. “Definitely challenging for the orchestra.”

Two performances, a morning children’s concert and an evening extravaganza, provided the timeless grandeur of movie classics plus exciting music of popular video games. Whitney Johnson, Associate Director of Granada Theatre Operations, said, “This morning, we had 630 youth and school staff in attendance. It was amazing to hear these kids just gush about the music from their favorite movies and video games.”
