LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Thousands of pumpkins will be carved into jack-o-lanterns or used in Halloween or harvest displays during October.

But what eventually happens to all those pumpkins? They'll likely end up in the trash, but there's another option, and this one recycles the pumpkins as food for local pigs and livestock.

From October 25 to November 4, Las Vegas Livestock will provide two large collection bins for people to dispose of their pumpkins, which will then be fed to local pigs.

Locations: • South: UNLV Rebel Recycling Center, southeast corner of Flamingo and Swenson -- behind the solar dishes. • North: Gilcrease Ranch Pumpkin Patch, 7800 N. Tenaya Way.
